2021 Bacio Divino

$150.00

The 2021 vintage yielded excellent fruit across Napa’s many microclimates. The high quality was paired with low yield, often a necessary exchange in farming. The result is a smaller production of one of our best bottlings of Bacio Divino, with less than 200 cases produced.

We have blended the elegant tannins and classic mouthfeel of Valley floor cabernet with the intensity of our higher-elevation estate cabernet to create a very balanced yet robust wine. Adding a splash of Sangiovese heightens the nose and adds a pleasant spark of red fruit. The wine boasts lovely brightness and energy, with notes of sweet dark cherry, plum, mocha, spice, tobacco and lavender. Firm yet fine-grained tannins show promise of a more refined and balanced wine after the first 2-3 years of bottle ageing. This vintage of Bacio Divino should age elegantly in your cellar through 2035.

We're thrilled to introduce our 2021 vintage Cabs this year! While we await feedback from wine reviewers, here are reviews for our 2019 vintage, setting the stage for another exceptional release.

An Artful Red Wine Napa Valley 2019 Surprisingly open and inviting for a Cabernet of its tender age and a wine that boasts a good deal of richness with ample black cherry and currant fruit enriched by no small amount of sweet oak, this oh-so-supple, well-balanced, full-bodied rendition is already easy on the palate with nicely buffered, fine-grained tannins providing a gentle bit of grip. That it will keep and age effortlessly for a half-decade or more is certain, and we would choose to wait on it for a few more years, but Cabernet lovers who are short on patience should find more than enough to like in the shorter term.

The 2019 Bacio Divino is 98% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Sangiovese that's mostly from Beckstoffer Heritage vineyards, with the Sangiovese from St. Helena. It has a solid bouquet of ripe cherry and hints of blue fruits supported by notes of chocolate, leafy tobacco, and cedary spice. Medium-bodied, it has a supple, elegant mouthfeel, ripe tannins, and a charming, forward, balanced style that will keep for at least a decade.

Rich flavors and a gentle, broad texture make this full-bodied wine comfy and spicy to sip. Chocolate, dark plums, cloves and cinnamon coat the palate as rather soft tannins and seemingly low acidity add a relaxed mouthfeel. – Jim Gordon
