2018 Bacio Divino

Bacio Divino Celebrates it's 25 year anniversary!

2018 was a fantastic vintage in the Napa Valley. It was, perhaps, the most even and untroubled growing season of the last decade. Across all varietals, we were able to achieve optimal ripeness in the vineyards without many of the challenges we experienced in 2017. This resulted in balanced wines that retain good amounts of natural acidity. We’ve blended in a small amount of Sangiovese to give a lift to the nose and an intriguing twist on this Cabernet Sauvignon dominant wine.

Generous aromas of plums and cassis emerge in the nose, with hints of sweet oak that elegantly underly the rich dark fruits. Lush and full bodied on the palate, the acidity is supple and fine tannins should allow for long-term cellaring prospects.

This is a big red wine, blended with 3% Sangiovese and aged 22 months in all new French oak, sourced from Beckstoffer Heritage Vineyards.  A sweetness of berry compote and cassis rises on the nose and entry on the palate, lifted by underlying acidity and earthy notes of cedar and pencil.  It will do well in the cellar; enjoy best from 2025-2030. Cellar Selection. - V.B.

Blackberry with currant and wet earth on the nose, following through to a full body with medium round tannins and a medium fruity finish. Very drinkable now, but better in 2022.

The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Divine Kiss is similarly purple-hued and has a spicy, well-oaked style that gives up notes of mulled plums, black cherries, dried tobacco, chocolate, and loamy earth. It's medium to full-bodied, has a rounded, balanced texture, present tannins, and a good finish. Give bottles 2-4 years in the cellar and enjoy over the following 10-15.

Very convincingly Cabernet in its soul with a distinctive whisper of red berry brightness to its prevailing themes of crème de cassis and sweet baking spice, Bacio Divino's Artful Red Wine is, in its 2018 incarnation, a fleshy, nicely textured offering that shows a good bit of refinement even if firmed by nominal tannins. Albeit easy to get at now, it deserves time in which to fully unfold, and the smart money says to wait and exercise at least a few years of patience before pulling its cork.
