Missouri Hopper Vineyard sits on the southern boundary of the Oakville AVA valley floor. This historic vineyards site is one of Napa Valley oldest grape growing sites with its initial planting dating back to the late 1800’s. The 2015 vintage offered a low yield, but excellent fruit quality with great skin to juice ratios. Perhaps our most decadent and age-worthy offering, a deep core of black and red fruits envelop the palate. Notes of coffee, toffee dominate with hints of licorice and bramble. A very long finish with abundant tannins will greatly reward those with the patience to cellar this wine as it has an expected drinking window of 2019-2035.
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, September 2018
The 2015 Janzen Beckstoffer Missouri Hopper Cabernet Sauvignon has a very deep garnet-purple color and is scented of cedar chest, crushed blackberries and black currant with touches of espresso and licorice plus a waft of underbrush. Medium to full-bodied, it has a firm frame of grainy tannins supporting the muscular black fruits and earthy notions, finishing on a cedary note..
Wine Enthusiast, September 2018
Made entirely from Cabernet Sauvignon grown in this Yountville-area site, this is red-fruit forward, full bodied and expansive in waves of flavor and complexity. Compressed tannins round out the structure and powerful grip. — V.B
