The Bacigalupi family’s estate vineyard site is in the Russian River AVA. Planted on alluvial soils close to the river, the climate here provides the perfect conditions for slow ripening Pinot Noir grapes. In the glass this wine has a hazy violet hue with a clear rim. Herb, fruit and floral notes are evident on the nose. Wild strawberry and cherry fruit dominate the first sip, with hints of forest floor. This world class vineyard produces wines with a round and rich mouthfeel.
Jeb Dunnuck, March 2019
The 2016 Pinot Noir Lucie Bacigalupi Vineyard is classic Russian River Pinot Noir and has a ripe, sexy perfume of red and black currants, spice box, damp forest floor, and mint. Straight up beautiful on the palate, with a rounded, opulent texture, no hard edges, and medium to full body, it’s a beauty that can be drunk today with ample pleasure, yet it should evolve nicely for at least 4-6 years, although there’s no need to delay gratification.
Wine Enthusiast, September 2019
This wine has gorgeous aromatics of lavender and rose as it develops on the palate into puffy lush tannins. With a robust powerful backbone of body and oak, it offers strong flavors of cola, cherry and citrus, all seamlessly interwoven into a tapestry of bold intensity.
Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate, December2019
Medium ruby in color, the 2016 Lucie Pinot Noir Bacigalupi Vineyard has scents of dried strawberries, raspberries, spiced red cherries, potpourri and cinnamon stick with hints of tree bark, dried flowers and earth. The palate is medium-bodied, intense and spicy with fine-grained tannins and great freshness on the long finish.
