One of the very early vineyard sites in Napa Valley is the Beckstoffer Missouri Hopper vineyard. Located on the southern boundary of what is now the Oakville AVA, the fruit from this site produces exceptional wines.

The sheer power of this wine immediately shines through and features aromas of black currant and cherry. Once in the mouth, the wine settles into a balanced firmness that keys on cassis, dried herbs and oak. The tannins are pronounced yet balanced and we expect the elements of this powerhouse to coalesce over the next 3-5 years and the wine to continue to develop over the coming two decades.

Sourced from the Beckstoffer Missouri Hopper Vineyard in Oakville, this Cabernet Sauvignon was aged for 28 months in 100% new French oak, primarily Taransaud barrels, which lend a subtle maple nuance to the wine. A nicely structured and expressive wine in 2022 showcases excellent volume and richness, with a red-toned fruit profile in this vintage. Notes of sandalwood emerge, alongside sappy tannins that are firm yet fine-grained, giving the wine depth and refinement. - Jonathan Cristaldi
